Chris and I thought it would be cute to do a costume pair up with me as Mary Marvel (black) and Mary Marvel (Red) in a Photo.

Dress: Fabric choices were a key in this costume. Since the character is from the 1940's we wanted to make sure to pick fabrics that also were some that era. So for this costume we asked that Sean come with us since he was doing the tailoring. We went with a heavy wool crepe in both red and off white and gold metallic organza( the funny part is Chris found the red, Sean found the white and I brought it home with the gold go team Riddle). The button was put on the same side as Captain Marvel’s since she is mimicking him.

Flag: Finding cord that large was impossible so we ended up buying rope at Lowes and getting gold thread and taking each strand of the rope and wrapping it in the gold thread. Each of the 3 pieces took approx 8+ hours. Also we custom created the appliqués because one of the petals is slightly larger then the other. We made the cape cut off at my elbow to create a nicer line and longer legs.

Boots: While she isn't normally drawn with these boots we thought some Greek footwear made sense because she is given her powers by the Greek gods!

A traditional character is always well received by long time fans as opposed to costuming the most popular thing at the time.
