Wig - I purchased a shoulder length 3/4 wig. While 3/4 wigs tend to wonky if you wear them completely forward they are much tighter then regular wigs, This wasn't a problem since I didn't really have to worry about how it blended from my forehead into the hair because of the crown. Then I purchased various tracts of dark brown hair and sewed them into the wig, making it not only longer but much fuller. Once that was done to get that bump shape, I attached some more hair around it then sewed that into the wig itself. From there I styled the wig to cover the bump a bit more, and sewed in charms.
Crown- Working off head mold of myself I already had, sculpted a general shape of the crown. Once the general shape was cast in fiberglass, sculpted the pattern on to the fiberglass template. Then molded and cast into a brass bronze composite. Lined with foam and used a old leather belt to hold it onto my head.
Horns - Sculpted, and then casted in fiberglass, then filled with great Stuff! To keep it light. They are a separate element to make it easier to travel with.
Body Suit - Body suit was taken from the bodysuit pattern that was used for Black cat and Empowered. With alternations to get the V neck and addition of the corset. I was fortunate to pick up the fabric in the remnant big at Joanns last Halloween. Originally I had planned to use scales scattered throughout the bodysuit, but the scales I purchased were not proportional to my size. Additional Dark green spandex was added in the joint area for movement. The sewing on the suit and work on the corset, done by my friend Sean and his crazy skills. He is great to collab with because we approach costuming the same way and is open to working together on any design I bring him.
Skirt- Fabric again purchased from the remnant bin and a sweater from the thrift store, sewed into a wrapped skirt then distressed.
Belts- Purchased some belts at good will. Stitched them together and sprayed them with Nu Life to get them all to be the same color. Added charms to the belts afterwards.
Cloak - Its 2 different pieces, the top part is sew onto a like Bolero jacket make of the same material as the bodysuit to hide it. There is also a layer of foam to make it fuller. From there the larger piece was cut out in the shape of an animal and lined, we grommet a belt along the top and then that is wrapped under my arms to hold the weight of the long cloak, again it was distressed.
Boots - Small alternations to the boots were made, they were cut down the back to lengthen my legs.
Etc- Eyebrows were removed using eyebrow wax but you can also use wax. |
