I wanted to costume with another local comic book costumer named Miracole. She is SO much taller than me I wanted to think of a pair of girls that hadn’t been over done that we could both do. I was reading Justice League international and it came to me. Fire and Ice! The personalities seemed to fit too.

It is based mostly off the JLI Design, with a few changes I decided to make. I ended up going with an off white micro suede that had a tiny bit of stretch in it, but sadly there was no blue in the same fabric. So we decided to dye it, and it turned out fantastic. Because it was suede we had to scotch guard the heck out of the thing; it still gets really dirty! We wanted all the stitching to be like the Inuit people have on their jackets, which you can really see from a distance. I don’t know what to call it other than reverse stitch. I picked up some pearl buttons to add to the collar but I only went with 3 rather than all the way down the front and the arms. We lengthened the polar fleece vest because she is a modest character. We hand stitched all the trim around the edges and made the button rope for the vest and boots. The boots were rather troublesome to find as I have a fairly small foot, when they came in they weren’t as furry as I wanted so I ended up making larger fur cuffs which go into the boot. There are 4 buttons and loops on the boots were we also custom made. The wig I loved and I got it from cyperous when they use to do international orders. Tailoring on the bodysuit was done by Sean Patton.

This character pair is really obscure, and only a handful of people knew who I was. It was fun costuming with Miracole for a short time at Dragoncon. This costume does make for wonderful photos, especially when it snowed in Atlanta. |
