I was asked to be in an Xmen group for SDCC 2005. Since they were being Cyclops and Jean, I thought Emma would be suitable. I went with the Frank Quitley version because I thought it looked really cool. I didn’t know much about the character other than she was a powerful, no nonsense type of girl. Though deep down I think I'm a Shadowcat girlie. |

This outfit was a challenge for obvious gravity-like reasons. The top was sewn around some breast cups and lined with PVC to add a little bit of ‘stick.’ There was a invisible snap in front in case of emergency but generally between the PVC and the double sided tape, it stayed up very well. The only other challenge were the shoes, I had no clue how to create shoes from scratch, so I talked to someone who did. When the shoes arrived for SDCC they were rubber slip-ons with a white stocking over them and 5” platform. I have weak ankles and didn’t feel safe to walk in the shoes due to their lack of ankle support so I did a thigh high/white gogo boot combo. I sent them back to take down the bottom of the shoes at least 2” but I never received them. The wig is something I been playing around with; I recently changed the wig to be white because I thought it fit the character better. |

This was a very popular costume and even to this day people seem to be intrigued by how the top was done. It was a lot of fun and this was one of my first sexy character costumes. I had been doing mostly cute characters up to this time but realized it was fun to do a sexier character. |
