A friend of mine wanted to be Lumière from Kiddy Grade. He (yes ‘He’) asked if I wanted to be Éclair. At the time I hadn’t seen the series. After watching a few episode and always being a fan of Gonzo’s work I decided I would do it.

I wanted to pick an interesting fabric. I had seen the costume in satins and it never looked right which is why I went for velvet. The cross piece in the middle was a little cumbersome because I didn’t want to use illusion fabric. Initially I used clear thread but it wasn’t enough to secure the cross so then I used clear bra straps. I decided to wear different boots because I really disliked the footwear the character would wear. The wig was custom colored as at the time I couldn’t find a good auburn, and the belt is mold leather and the gun is just an air soft rifle since she uses a Walther P99. Laura and I worked on this together and learned how troublesome puffy sleeves are!

I was never completely happy with the wig and the way the outfit photographed. This was the first time I decided to take a chance and pick fabrics that weren’t typically used.
