This is what I consider an arts and craft project. My good friend, Patrick really open my eyes to seeing items and using them for something completely different. Without him this costume would have never been finished.
The bra was covered in plastic from a 2L bottle, painted, and the trim was plastic piping and craft form. The waist armor is 2 trash can lids with pvc piping as well. The bracers are shin guards with craft form, the points were the tips of water cups filled with hot glue. The choker is mint container, yum! Fresh breath is always needed at a convention! The sword was troublesome due to the fact I travel to various conventions. So it couldn’t have it be bigger than my biggest piece of luggage so I had to spilt it down the middle to get the sword to 44”. It ended up being quite heavy due to the fact it was done in wood.
The question I get asked most is how I changed my skin color. I didn’t have an air brush, so originally I tried spray on tan, but unless you get it done, minimum, the day before you’re wearing the costume it’s not going to work, especially if you plan on wearing a costume where you don’t want to be as dark. At the last moment I decided to go with really dark makeup concealer, while it took a long time to put on it lasted and even after a few washes I was still dark. If you have the option air brush is your best bet, otherwise I would recommend makeup concealer, especially if all you have to do is your face and hands.
